Contemporaneous: Songs for the Earth

  • Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall 881 7th Avenue New York, NY, 10019 United States (map)

Contemporaneous presents a concert inspired by the grandeur of the natural world and the need to protect and preserve it, now and in the future. The event includes two world premieres: Joshua Groffman's "Lemur” and Lawrence Kramer's "Ecospheres," both for baritone Nathaniel Sullivan and chamber ensemble. Both works set poems from Elisabeth Frost's poetic sequence "Remains," whose title refers both to mortal remains and to what remains of the world we want to keep. Also on the program are compositions by Marcos Balter, Gabriella Smith, and Julius Eastman.

Presented by Voices Up! at Fordham University.
